Overview

Bubba Shady’s BBQ stands as a beacon of authentic barbecue nestled along Highway 69 in Pointe au Baril, Ontario. This unassuming spot captures the essence of slow-smoked, soulful barbecue that appeals to both travelers seeking a hearty break and locals craving expertly crafted comfort food.

The main stars here are their handwiches, especially the brisket and pulled pork, slow-cooked to tender perfection and bursting with rich, smoky depth. Customers often praise the brisket sandwich for its melt-in-the-mouth texture and bold flavor, made even better by Bubba Shady’s meticulous approach to barbecue craftsmanship. Alongside the meats, the sides like cheesy garlic mashed potatoes, smoky baked beans, and Bubba cheesy crack corn stand out as more than mere accompaniments—they complement the main dishes with well-balanced, satisfying flavors.

The experience extends beyond just the food. A Thom’s account of having the sandwich components packed separately for a later meal highlights the team’s thoughtful hospitality and customer care. Whether you dine in or take away, the quality remains consistent, reflecting their pride in the craft and a commitment to excellent service.

Finally got to stop in and try Bubba Shady’s after a drive back from Toronto! I got the brisket sandwich with cracked corn and was driving for several more hours so they packed the sandwich components up separately for me to assemble when time to eat, which was so nice! Unfortunately I ended up much more delayed than I expected and didn’t get to eat it until late in the evening, but even reheated after several hours it was so delicious, I was shocked!! I saved some for my partner to try the next morning and he was blown away too!! We can’t wait to come back and try it fresh next time!

This is an amazing addition to driving up highway 400/69 north!! Don't need to stop anywhere else for terrific tasting BBQ and sensational sides too. Great homey down home feel and the guys are welcoming and accommodating to all my questions about their expansive menu. Very friendly and receptive staff. Nothing like it north or south of Pointe au Baril. I've tried the brisket, the ribs and the turkey with every side they have and each one was a delicious surprise. Their reputation for first class catering (my friends and neighbours) confirms the quality and taste of what they put out of that little place.

Saw this amazing place on my travels up North @bubbashadysbbq . Had to stop by on my way back home and try their yummy rack of ribs, brisket sandwich which I grabbed with their crack corn. The brisket came with a side of pickles and red wine vinegar onions. I also topped my brisket with homemade coleslaw and apple butter sauce. They had their soft opening in last few days. All I will say is the meat is mouthwatering and just perfectly smoked. The ribs are tasty, perfectly done and sauced. I wish I could try everything. I can’t wait to come back here again next year while I travel. The staff was so patient as I ordered for multiple people and very helpful. Big love on service and food.

As a competitor in a Masters series BBQ organization, having provincial Grand Championships, Reserve Grand Championships, and numerous top 10 calls to my name, I can confidently say that Bubby Shady's is the real deal! You can't miss it right on Highway 69 in Pointe aux Baril, with those two massive 500-gallon smokers chugging away, and the smell of slow-cooked meat hits you the second you pull into the lot. There's plenty of parking and even picnic tables for outside dining, but I chose to eat inside. The place is spotless and smells exactly like a proper BBQ joint should! The service was fantastic—the food came out quickly and was piping hot. I ordered the ribs with cornbread and a brisket sandwich with coleslaw right in it, not on the side. I also got a few sides to sample: pit beans, dill pickle potato salad, cheese ‘n’ mac (IYKYK), and their version of street corn off the cob. Everything was perfect. The ribs were tender with just the right amount of smoke and not too much sauce. The brisket on the sandwich was sliced perfectly, and the meat-to-bun ratio was spot on. And the bun... a famous Martin's Potato Roll! The mac was incredibly cheesy and luscious, and the beans were great with a little heat on the back end—nice! The dill potato salad was fantastic and brought back memories, while the street corn, topped with Cotija cheese and Tajin spice, was a delicious addition to the meal. Don't just drive through Pointe aux Baril, do yourself a favour and stop in for some of the best low-and-slow BBQ in the north….. You will not regret it! #BBQisAliveinthe705 @BBQWorX
